2017 European Heritage Days: resounding success for Safran Museum
The Safran Museum welcomed 6,200 visitors as part of the European Heritage Days held on September 16 and 17, 2017.
The Safran Museum focused on young people this year since the theme of the 2017 event was "Youth and Heritage".
A number of activities based on the theme of "Youth and Heritage" were put on during the two-day event. Activities mainly intended for children were supervised by several volunteers who were keen to give an insight into their job:
Visitors were able to try their hands at flying thanks to drone flight demonstrations
While little ones could take part in activities designed just for them: water rockets, making cardboard airplanes equipped with small electric motors... Complete with test flights!

Virtual reality and innovation put in the spotlight this year
The Flight Simulator gave everyone a chance to become a pilot for a day. Equipped with a headset, visitors also tested augmented virtual reality, then marveled at the Patrouille de France aerobatic displays recreated by Patrouille Jetesons on simulators featuring Oculus Rift virtual reality headsets. Lastly, they found out about the virtual test cell for the M88, the engine powering the Rafale.
More than 6,000 visitors
In all, 6,200 visitors got an insight into the aerospace sector through activities as well as the Safran Museum's permanent collections.
