After going up again Russia last year, the French mixed fencing team is preparing for a new challenge by going head to head with the best fencers in the world on Friday March 30 at 7pm at a fencing tournament being hosted by the Safran Aerospace Museum in Réau.
Two mixed teams are battling it out this year as part of a new tournament structure: on the one side, the two best female fencers and the two best male fencers in France, and on the other, the two best female fencers and the two best male fencers in the world.
Team France will be made up of Astrid Guyart – who is also an engineer at ArianeGroup – and Pauline Ranvier, as well as Enzo Lefort and Erwann Le Pechoux, the quadruple world champion and team Olympic silver medalist.
They will be going up against the Russian Inna Deriglazova, Rio 2016 Olympic champion and twice defending world champion, the Tunisian Inès Boubakri, bronze medalist at the Rio Olympics and multiple champion of Africa, the Russian Dimitry Zherebchenko, defending world champion and the Japanese Toshiya Saito, world championship silver medalist.
